Roblox User ID Lookup: Names, IDs, and Safe Links
How to find a Roblox user's permanent numeric ID, what public profile data is available, and why roblox.dawg.bot keeps username links from being hijacked.
Username and user ID are not the same thing
A Roblox username is readable and useful for search. A numeric user ID is the durable identity.
That distinction matters whenever a profile URL is shared, indexed, or placed in a bio. A username can change. A numeric account ID continues to identify the same account.
roblox.dawg.bot accepts both:
roblox.dawg.bot/Buildermanroblox.dawg.bot/156roblox.dawg.bot/users/156
The first two resolve to the canonical third form after Roblox confirms the account.
How the lookup works
For a username, Dawg asks Roblox's public username service for the matching numeric ID. It then fetches the public user record and optional profile surfaces:
- User identity and account creation date
- Avatar headshot
- Friends, followers, and following counts
- Group memberships and roles
- Public creations
- Presence
The user record is required. Optional services are isolated: if presence or groups is temporarily unavailable, the core identity can still resolve.
Every successful source bundle is written to a durable ProviderSnapshot. The profile page reads normalized data from Dawg's database; the frontend does not call Roblox directly.
Why username aliases stay bound
The first confirmed username lookup creates a durable route binding to the numeric account. Dawg never silently repoints that route to another account.
This is stricter than recomputing every old URL from live username data. It prevents an old indexed link, forum post, or audit trail from quietly representing a different person after a rename or reuse.
The permanent URL is always:
roblox.dawg.bot/users/<numeric-user-id>
Use that form for records that must keep their meaning.
What the public profile includes
When Roblox returns the data, the profile includes:
- Username, display name, description, avatar, and verification
- Numeric user ID and join date
- Friends, followers, and following
- Current presence and location label
- Groups with the user's role
- Public creations and visit counts
- Visible cross-platform connections in the Dawg graph
Groups and creations are stored as platform entities, not user accounts. That keeps the identity graph accurate as Roblox support expands.
Privacy and ownership
Public Roblox data can establish that an account exists and that a username currently maps to an ID. It does not prove that a Dawg user owns the account.
Ownership remains a separate, explicit proof. Public profile links enrich the graph; they do not merge identities automatically.
